What are the materials of food packaging bags?

PE (Polyethylene)
Features: Good chemical stability, non-toxic, high transparency, and resistant to corrosion by most acids and alkalis. In addition, PE also has good gas barrier, oil barrier and fragrance retention, which helps to retain moisture in food. Its plasticity is also very good, and it is not easy to deform or break as a packaging material.
Application: Commonly used in food plastic packaging.

PA (Nylon)
Features: High temperature resistance, puncture resistance, good oxygen barrier performance, and does not contain harmful ingredients. In addition, PA material is also tough, wear-resistant, oil-resistant, with good mechanical properties and toughness, and has good puncture resistance and certain anti-mildew and antibacterial effects.
Application: It can be used as food packaging, especially for foods that require high oxygen barrier and puncture resistance.

PP (polypropylene)
Features: Food-grade PP will not release harmful substances even at high temperatures. PP plastic is transparent, has good gloss, is easy to process, has high tear and impact resistance, is water-resistant, moisture-resistant, and high-temperature resistant, and can be used normally at 100°C~200°C. In addition, PP plastic is the only plastic product that can be heated in a microwave oven.
Application: Commonly used in food-specific plastic bags, plastic boxes, etc.

PVDC (polyvinylidene chloride)
Features: PVDC has good air tightness, flame retardancy, corrosion resistance, safety and environmental protection, and meets food hygiene requirements. In addition, PVDC also has good weather resistance and will not fade even if exposed outdoors for a long time.
Application: Widely used in food and beverage packaging.

EVOH (ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer)
Features: good transparency and gloss, strong gas barrier properties, and can effectively prevent air from penetrating the packaging to damage the performance and quality of food. In addition, EVOH is cold-resistant, wear-resistant, highly elastic, and has high surface strength.
Application: widely used in aseptic packaging, hot cans, retort bags, packaging of dairy products, meat, canned juice and condiments, etc.

Aluminum-coated film (aluminum + PE)
Features: Aluminum-coated film is an environmentally friendly material. The main component of the composite packaging bag is aluminum foil, which is silver-white, non-toxic and tasteless, oil-resistant and temperature-resistant, soft and plastic, and has good barrier and heat-sealing properties. In addition, aluminized film can also prevent food from oxidative corruption and avoid environmental pollution, while maintaining the freshness and taste of food.
Application: widely used in the field of food packaging.

In addition to the above common materials, there are also some composite materials such as BOPP/LLDPE, BOPP/CPP, BOPP/VMCPP, BOPP/VMPET/LLDPE, etc. These composite materials can meet the different needs of food packaging bags in terms of moisture resistance, oil resistance, oxygen isolation, light blocking, and fragrance preservation through the combination of different materials.

When choosing the material of food packaging bags, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as the characteristics of the packaged food, shelf life requirements, and market demand. At the same time, it is also necessary to ensure that the selected material meets the relevant food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
